5. The process of delivery is complete when the ECCB representative signs the
‘ ABANDONED PROPERTY NOTICE OF DELIVERY’ form, confirming the receipt
of the items.
6. The commercial bank will receive a copy of the completed form while the ECCB
representative will retain two copies.
(B) Submitting Claims for the Contents of Safe Deposit Boxes Held by the ECCB
1. Upon receipt of a claim from the customer (his beneficiary or representative) , the
commercial bank must do the following:
a.
Verify the claimant’s authority to collect the items; and
b.
Submit to the ECCB a request for the return of the safe deposit items.
2. The Operations Manager will await instructions from the ECCB regarding the date and
time for the collection of the items from the ECCB’s office.
3. When collecting the items from the ECCB, the representatives of the commercial bank
must complete the relevant sections of the ‘ABANDONED PROPERTY CLAIMED
FROM STORAGE’ form presented by the ECCB representative .
4. The commercial bank will receive a copy of the completed form while the ECCB
representative will retain two copies.
5. Within two days of receipt of the items, the commercial bank must confirm via
(SWIFT/fax) that the items have been delivered to the rightful owner.
R ESIDENT R EPRESENTATIVES ’ P ROCEDURES FOR H ANDLING THE C ONTENTS OF
S AFE D EPOSIT B OXES
(A) Delivery of the Contents of Safe Deposit Boxes by the Commercial Bank
1. The Resident Representative receives a memo from ECCB Headquarters (BMOD)
advising of the pending submission and the contact person for the commercial bank.
2. The Resident Representative must contact the designated person at the commercial bank
to arrange the date and time on which the commercial bank will deliver the items.
