APPENDIX VI
ECCB’S MEDIA RELATIONS POLICY
1.
INTRODUCTION
1.1
PURPOSE
The overall purpose of this policy is to provide the Bank’s personnel with a document that sets
out the parameters for verbal and written communications with the media.
Informing and educating the citizens and residents of the eight ECCU member countries about
the services and programmes offered by the Bank as well as related financial and economic
issues are essential cornerstones of the Bank’s mission. Given the geographic spread of the
islands, the Bank relies heavily on the region’s media in accomplishing this task. It is therefore
important for the Bank to develop strong partnership arrangements with the region’s media
houses, each of which targets specific areas of the market, and collectively facilitate
communication to a widespread audience.
2.
COLLABORATING WITH THE MEDIA
The Director of the Corporate Relations Department, CRD, is the Bank’s official media contact
person and the CRD is responsible for co-ordinating the Bank’s media relations. That
Department is responsible for disseminating information to the media, setting up interviews, and
arranging media coverage and media briefings.
2.1
Directing Media Queries
To ensure that the Bank’s communications are properly coordinated, all media queries
received at the Bank should be directed, as soon as possible, to the Director, Corporate
Relations Department. The CRD will document and channel queries to the relevant
authorised spokesperson(s).
