COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

ECCB CREATIVE YOUTH COMPETITION

The ECCB Creative Youth Competition is geared towards stimulating the minds of the region's youth on issues that impact the socio-economic landscape of the region. Launched in September 2018 in collaboration with the Regional Security System Asset Recovery Unit (RSS ARU), the competition is opened to secondary school and Community College students of the eight ECCB member countries between the ages of 13 and 19 years. Each year, we seek to increase penetration with participation from schools in all eight ECCB member countries. In executing this initiative, the following steps are followed:

1) Write to the school inviting them to submit ideas for area of focus for the competition (May/June)

2) Select/develop no more than three areas of focus for the competition. (July/August)

3) Prepare and dispatch news release to launch Essay Competition ( September ). Essays are to be received by ECCB Headquarters or Resident Representatives by the stipulated deadline in January of the following year.

4) Update news/events section on ECCB website with competition information (September/October).

5) Make arrangements to host the regional videoconference with the students. Ask Res Reps to verify a suitable date; book the Maltin Moving Conference Centre; determine presenters format of forum and presenters . (September) 6) Prepare letters to inform schools of the areas of focus for the competition and invite them to participate in the competition as well as the regional videoconference. (Early September)

Follow-up with schools regarding submissions (beginning of January).
