Proposal of the New Commercial Ferry (RoPax) System: Three case models

The pre-feasibility study recommended (and analyzed) the Damen Fast RoPax 5114 vessel which allowed the system to grow as these ferries are larger and can accommodate more cars. Further analysis was done to reduce the size ferry considered, to a Gold Coast Ships Wave Piecing 30, to reduce the capital expenditure needed assuming the following two scenarios: ➢ Maintaining the # of passengers. (i.e. higher load factors and lower vehicle & cargo revenue) ➢ Increasing ticket prices 1. Base Case: The original study, large RoPax Ferry 2. Scenario 1: Smaller Gold coast ferry, with lower fuel consumption (this model is not yet adjusted for the smaller passenger capacity and therefore the load factors jump.) Lower operating costs of the smaller ferry, except for fuel burn, are ignored, as well as vehicle and cargo revenue. 3. Scenario 2: Smaller Gold coast ferry, with lower fuel consumption, and the new, increased ticket prices
