Starting Point

 The use of AI in policing must be guided by its contribution to public value (Muir & O'connell, 2025). Three questions that provide a starting point:  Can AI make policing more or less effective in keeping the public safe, investigating crime, responding to incidents and so forth?  Can AI make policing more or less efficient in the way it spends public money?  Can AI make the police more or less legitimate in the eyes of the public, as seen through levels of trust and confidence in the police?
