What is meant by Artificial Intelligence (AI)?

AI has become an everyday tool, assisting law enforcement agencies, boosting communication and shaping education. When we say AI, what are we truly talking about? “ AI is the ability of machines, especially computers, to emulate human intelligence, including perception, learning and problem solving ” (McKinsey & Company, 2024) Where does AI have its roots? At its heart, AI is computer science trying to teach machines to think and work like us and improve at their tasks without specific programming.
