Italics

Use italics when referring to titles of events, webcasts, articles,and white papers: Example: Register today for our conference: Repositioning the Financial Services Sector Quotation Marks When quoting someone or something, where you place the punctuation marks depends on the specific punctuation mark: - Commas and full stops inside quotation marks - Semicolons and colons outside quotation marks - Question marks, dashes, and exclamation marks inside quotation marks only if they are part of the quoted material Example: He asked, “What time does the meeting begin?” but

Can you recall who said, “When listing several items, do not use more than three bullet points, rather number the items”? Use single quotation marks for quotes within quotes .

Example:

“The Economics professor quotes Sir Arthur Lewis who argues that ‘The fundamental cure for poverty is not money but knowledge’.”

Dates and Numbers

• Spell out one to nine, e.g.one, two...nine • Beyond nine, use numerals, e.g. 10, 11...999 unless the number is written at the beginning of the sentence, in which case, it should be spelled out • Use commas when writing numbers larger than 999, e.g. 1,000, 250,000, 750,998 rather than spaces or no separation at all • If you are using numerals to clarify a spelled-out number, put the numerals in parentheses.
