GUIDELINES FOR WRITING INVITATIONS
1. The name of the guest on the invitation card must be handwritten in black ink. It must be specific to either “Mr and Mrs” or “Ms” or “Mr” or “Mr and Guest” or “Ms and Guest”

Envelopes may be handwritten in black ink or printed.

In the case of married couples: Envelopes should be addressed to the name indicated on the list, at the business address. The invitation should be addressed to either Mr and Mrs, or the Hon and Mrs, or Dr and Mrs. For example Mr and Mrs Cary Harris; The Honourable Urban Baron and Mrs Baron; Dr and Mrs Joseph Bannis. Where the Honourable is the wife, the invitation is addressed to the Honourable and Mr. For example The Honourable Loreen Bannis-Roberts and Mr McDonald Roberts.
4. Where the invitation is sent to a home, the envelope should be addressed to the wife.
5. Where an individual has initials after his/her name (e.g. CBE, OBE) these should be included on the envelope but NOT on the invitation.
6. Invitations to the Governor General must be in the form of a letter and addressed tot his office. Do not include ‘Please be seated by’ on invitations to the Governor General. The Governor General arrives in time for the commencement of the function.
7. Address envelopes for staff invitations to the staff member. The invitation card should be made out to the staff and spouse or guest where applicable.
8. Refer to the Order of Precedence for each country to determine seating arrangements.
