6) Timing is important. Consider the time of the news conference in relation to the major news bulletins of the radio and TV stations. Allow enough time for stories to be prepared. Consider cut-off deadlines for the print media.

7) Put any restrictions such as limited photography access in writing and communicate these to the media beforehand.

8) Consider whether to let other organisations and agencies know about the news conference. It may be useful for other target audiences.

9) Decide who will maintain control at the news conference, who will decide where cameras are set up, who sits where.
